Pairing the beloved quilt template of our Revelation Sleeping Quilt with a completely sewn-closed footbox, the Enigma is the perfect ultralight quilt for those who always get cold feet. Exceptionally warm and extraordinarily light, the Enigma offers upper body freedom of movement, while providing structure for your feet. The Enigma doesn't have a zipper or a built in hood, saving even more space and weight in your pack.
The Enigma is a sleeping quilt, not a sleeping bag, which means it's designed to be used with a sleeping pad to provide insulation underneath you, between you and the ground.
Our Verdict
The Enigma is an incredibly versatile and adaptable quilt; Enlighten Equipment’s lightest and most minimal quilt for those of us who keep an eye on every gram we take. The sowed closed-toe box does away with zips and is a simpler, stripped-down version of Enlighten Equipment’s best-selling Revelation quilt
The quilt includes a pair of clips that can secure the quilt to a sleeping mat; this isn’t confining and allows you to toss and turn without twisting the quilt around you. The clips are effective and prevent the quilt from moving too much, so you don’t create yawning gaps for the heat to escape.
The quilt packs down incredibly small, so it takes up very little room in your pack. This 30°F / -1°C Quilt is well suited to 3 season uses here in the UK, but as with all quilts, a good mat with a high R-value and good thermals are required if you wish to push the quilts to use into the minuses, but if you plan on camping in cooler weather, look at the rest of the Enlightened Equipment range.
If you’ve never taken the plunge into quilt camping, but it’s something you have considered, we think you would be hard-pressed to find a better brand than Enlighten Equipment to take the leap finally.

Material & Construction
- Charcoal 10D outer/Yellow 10D inner fabric
- Ultralight nylon fabric. DWR finish. Fabric colors might appear slightly different from images shown.
- Lighter colored fabrics are semi-transparent, which will see through to the down. Down is not white, but a mottled grey and white mix.
- 850FP Grey Duck Down. Ethically sourced from an RDS certified supplier. Down product weights may vary +/- 3% due to production variances.
