Fizan's Compact 4 Trekking Poles are designed to have a very short packsize, they achieve this by splitting into 4 sections instead of three. Rather than having ever narrower tubing they have designed in a stronger arrangement - making these the ultimate in compact strength.
Fizan says:
The world`s lightest 4 section poles. 49cm pack size and only 169g (Fizan weight).
Sold as a pair.
Our Verdict
Fizan have been making ski and trekking poles since 1947 and were the first (apparently) to use aluminium. Basically they know a thing or two about engineering.
They don`t have ferrules around the joints as their jointing mechanism is completely enclosed inside the shaft of the pole. This saves weight.
The Fizan Compact 4 model is specifically designed to pack down to a short length, in this case 49cm. This means they can be carried inside a rucksack more easily, so when you`re on your way to and from the trail they don`t get in the way.
As well as baskets Fizan include rubber feet for using on hard surfaces.
