Polartec® Alpha® Direct is an evolution of original Alpha® technology that eliminates the need for a backing fabric to create an enclosed fabric package.
By refining the shape and size of its lofted fibers, Alpha® Direct can be in direct contact with skin or other fabric layers. This new design ability increases breathable performance, expands versatile style options, and further reduces overall garment weight.

ABOUT ALPHA® DIRECT TECHNOLOGY
Polartec® Alpha® Direct active insulation continuously releases excess body heat before it builds to cause saturation and discomfort.
This patented, adaptive quality is made possible through Alpha’s lofted fibers connected to a solid mesh core. And since Polartec® Alpha® Direct is inherently hydrophobic, it resists all moisture and dries incredibly fast.
Our View on Polartec Alpha Direct:
Polartec Alpha and Polartec Alpha Direct do the same thing, they provide warmth with breathability so that when you are sloggin up that hill on a cold day you don't sweat excessively inside your garment and get wet. Alpha came first a revolutionised synthetic insulation for the outdoors, Alpha Direct came along later and the difference is that the insulation no longer was required to be sandwiched between two fabrics, Alpha Direct can perform without a lining fabric, this means garments can be lighter and actually breath better.
