The Guide glove sits in the middle of the Mountain Equipment range, and, in this test, is most similar to the Alpkit Gabbro. It is warm enough for most activities while being dextrous enough for winter climbing. I was happy to place get ar, tie
knots, put on crampons and lead winter climbs while wearing these gloves. They also have wrist tethers which is a big plus point for me, for the odd occasion when you do choose to take your gloves off to prevent them being blown away. The Guide glove comes in a full range of men's and women's sizes. With my small hands I tried a women's Small and found it just about right, but for those with even smaller hands, there is an XS available. The fleece lining is particularly comfortable, and this is combined with pile lining on the back of the hand. The cuff has an easy-to-operate drawstring closure and the cuff is slimline enough that it can go under your jacket if that is your preference. The Guide glove has the common feature of a karabiner clip so you can attach them to your harness, and these are also good for drying the gloves. The waterproof liner is ME's own Drilite insert; I have always preferred Gore-Tex myself, but for the period I tested them for I found them waterproof. A good all-round workhorse glove at a reasonable price.
