For day hikes, light overnights, sure-footed scrambles, and fast descents on two wheels, the Aeon 35 is built to move with you over all terrain. With a range of technical features for all ascents and a close fitting back system that flexes as you move.
Rab says:
Carrying everything you need for mountain days, the Aeon is designed to give you freedom of movement over all terrain. The close-fitting Air Contour X™ carry system is sturdy enough to carry heavy loads, whilst keeping the weight centred for agility on steep, tricky trails. It’s semi-rigid structure and vacuum formed back panel, moulds to your shape and keeps the air flowing. It has a wrap-around stretch yoke that fits neatly over the back of the shoulders for a soft, secure fit, with an adjustable back length and forward pull hip belt to personalise the fit for all day comfort.
This panel loader pack is refined and streamlined, with a low-profile style optimised for all mountain ascents. At 35L there’s plenty space to pack gear for wild camping or a night in a hut. It has two TipGripper walking pole attachments, a walking axe loop, and easy access, expanding stretch pockets, ideal for stashing wet gear. The zipped hipbelt pockets hold snacks or compass and the rain cover is prepared for all weather. Completed with a robust 70D construction now made with 50% recycled fabric, the Aeon is ideal for clocking miles over rugged ground.
Our Verdict
The Aeon features a lid closure rather than a full zip, adding a higher capacity and making it a more versatile sack. The lid has two zipped pockets, one on the inside for valuables and one on the top to store things you need to access quickly, as well as providing the ability to carry a small rope for quick adventures.
The back system on the Aeon is the Air Contour X™ carry system, which offers a good level of airflow and is adjustable for different back lengths. The most important part of the Air Contour X is that it provides a close fit without being too restrictive, allowing it to provide a lot of support even when carrying a heavier load (climbing rack and rope, for example).
Other features include some stretch mesh side pockets that are perfect for water bottles or a small mat and tent and a stretch mesh pocket with a zip on the front, which is ideal for keeping waterproofs or clothes you want to dry out in. Elastic locking loops on the sides for storing trekking poles or a walking axe, pockets on the hip bets for storing essentials, and a built-in rain cover.
