Our Verdict
At 246g per pole, the Black Diamond Trail isn’t aiming for ultralight status, but you get a dependable, well-featured trekking pole that performs solidly across all kinds of terrain. The FlickLock system is quick to adjust and rock-solid once set, even when used with gloves. I’ve found the EVA foam grips comfortable over long days, and the extended grip makes steep climbs and side-hilling easier to manage.
The aluminium shafts feel robust, and the included snow baskets add versatility for winter trips. While they don’t pack down as short as some foldable style poles, the collapsed length is still manageable on the side of a pack.
