With fully recycled fabrics and insulation, the Women’s Cirrus Alpine Jacket is a synthetic insulating layer for all-weather multi-activity mountain protection. The soft and lightweight recycled 30D Pertex Quantum ripstop nylon shell uses a tightly woven down-proof structure with a DWR lining for robust wind and weatherproofing. It is filled with our new high-loft Cirrus HL insulation, a recycled polyester-based synthetic down, which retains its consistency of distribution throughout the baffles, making it very resilient on tough multi-day mountain trips. To keep that warm air exactly where it belongs, the Women’s Cirrus Alpine Jacket also features an adjustable hem, an insulated storm flap, elasticated glove-friendly cuffs and a snug-fitting helmet-compatible hood.
Lightweight, packable and fast drying, the Women’s Cirrus Alpine Jacket is slim enough, tough enough and warm enough to be worn as an outer or a midlayer, from winter right through into spring.
Our Verdict
Rab's Womens Cirrus Alpine Insulated Jacket is a warmer insulated jacket than the standard Cirrus. It's insulated with a good serving of the new Cirrus HL which is 100% recycled. It still acts to mimics the look and performance of down while maintaining warmth, even when wet. This makes it ideal for outdoor use in the damp, changeable conditions regularly encountered in the UK. This new HL material is warmer than the original and should be more durable, even with heavy use.
This jacket has more insulation and greater protection with the hood so it is great for cooler conditions. Recycled 30D Pertex Quantum for the outer looks and feels great and performs really well too. The stitch-through baffle construction ensures that the moisture-repelling insulation doesn't spread or bunch, preventing cold spots from forming. In terms of features, it has a hood designed to go under a helmet, is has lycra bound cuffs and hem drawcord, 1 zipped internal security pocket for handy essentials and 2 large zipped hand warmer pockets.
