Our Verdict
The 10-inch inseam provides decent coverage without feeling restrictive, and the 203g weight (Medium) keeps things light without sacrificing structure. I found the waistband particularly well-executed—secure without digging in. The zipped pockets are a nice touch, especially the thigh pocket, which stays out of the way but is easy to reach on the move. The fabric handles light moisture well and dries quickly, though it can feel a bit warm in very humid conditions.
Patagonia's use of recycled materials and a PFC-free DWR treatment is a welcome plus, especially if you want to align your gear choices with lower-impact production. They're not the absolute lightest shorts out there, but the balance of mobility, durability, and pocketing makes them a solid pick for multi-day trails or long summer mileage.
