Our Verdict
This unusual base layer utilises two different fabrics, Helly Hanson’s own “Lifa”, a material, and natural Marino wool. Lots of base layers blend merino wool with a different fabric, but HH has chosen to layer the merino wool on top of their Lifa fabric. The Lifa material efficiently moves moisture away from the body and the Marino insulating.
This makes the layer very breathable and incredibly warm, especially if you incorporate the well-fitting hood to add an extra layer of insulation. This could be used as a base layer or a mid-layer.
