The Terra Nova Solar Photon 2 is an excellent choice for backpackers and hikers who want to prioritise low weight without compromising stability. This tent is ideal for short trips and offers durability and minimal weight, ensuring a comfortable experience even in less-than-ideal weather conditions.
Constructed with a 10-denier nylon ripstop flysheet, the Solar Photon 2 is both stable and incredibly lightweight. The tent's design includes front and rear fly hoods, which significantly improve ventilation and help maintain a comfortable interior climate. Its quick and easy pitch feature is a significant advantage, allowing for swift setup.
The tent's weight of 832 grams (excluding pegs and bags) is impressively light for such a sturdy two-person shelter. Its lightweight construction is aided by using 2g titanium pegs and lightweight DAC NFL poles.
The Solar Photon 2 is compatible with Terra Nova's FastPack system, allowing users to create an even lighter shelter using the flysheet and groundsheet for a more open shelter. The ultra-light material means the Solar Photon is not traditionally seam-sealed. Terra Nova has minimised water penetration through careful seam positioning and stitching, but users can apply seam sealer for additional waterproofing.

Note: Due to the super-light nature of the material used in the construction of the tent, Terra Nova are unable to factory seal the seams in a conventional method. However, they are positioned and sewn in a way that minimises water penetration. It’s possible to add further protection yourself, with a seam sealer, to fully waterproof the tent.
