Osprey's Womens Tempest Pro 18 Rucksack is a great day pack but the quality of the harness and feature set mean it can be used for more adventurous outings.

Osprey says

Created for light-and-fast missions, the Tempest Pro 18 was features lightweight but tough Nanofly fabric, making this women’s-specific pack ideal for quick day hikes and bikepacking excursions. A BioStretch harness, continuous-wrap hipbelt and an injection-melded AirScape backpanel allow the pack to move with you during demanding hikes or bike rides. Trekking pole, ice axe, bike helmet and blinky light attachment points make this lightweight pack ideal for daylong excursions. Made from high-quality bluesign-approved recycled high-tenacity nylon and with a PFC-free DWR coating.

Our Verdict

Osprey's Womens Tempest Pro 18 Rucksack is small but perfectly formed - not exactly the lightest 18 litre pack in our range but its certainly one of the most fully featured. This diminuitive pack even has an adjustable back length so you can fine tune it to your body. The back panel has raised foam pads that create air channels that will provide some airflow to help keep your back dry.

We like that the frame is quite rigid and trasfers the weight to a decent hip belt with twin zipped pockets for those items you want to hand. There are twin stretch mesh side pockets and a big one on the front of the pack and there are lots of ways to attach stuff including trekking poles and a bike helment.

The bladder pocket is on the outside of the main pack which makes it really easy to take it out and refill it. We like the detailed design of the shoulder strap pockets which can be locked flat with a press stud when not in use.

It's a great day pack but the quality of the harness means it can be used for more adventurous outings.
