Mountain Equipment's Firefly jacket is a superlight shell with just a single chest pocket, stripping away hand pockets lightens the jacket and increases its breathability, which is already exceptional courtesy of Gore-Tex's Active 2.0. A hig performance piece for running or superlight backpacking.

The Firefly uses the very lightest version of highly breathable 3-layer GORE-TEX Active 2.0 fabric in combination with a fast moving Active fit and our protective Mountain Hood, it’s a lightweight and highly packable shell you can rely on. A single chest pocket gives quick access to a phone or snacks.
Our Verdict
Mountain Equipment's Firefly Gore-Tex Jacket is designed as a running jacket but that doesn't mean it can't cross over to backpacking and other activites. I particularly like that it only has one chest pocket because I tend not to use hand pockets when backpacking because my hipbelt covers them. When you take hand pockets away from a design you instantly improve the breathability of the jacket and reduce its weight - two traits that I prefer over having two pockets that I won't use.
I also like that its full 3 layer and with a slightly heavier fabric than Ultralight rain shells meaning less chance of rain being forced through at the rucksack touch points, however if this is a particular concern for you then you should probably consider a more durable model than this.
Gore-Tex Active 2.0 is leading edge in terms of breathability so you're buying into a performance fabric.
The finish on the jacket is good, cuffs are part elasticated and part velcro, the hem is drawcorded and there is a round-the-head cord adjustment so that you won't end up looking at the inside of your hood when you turn your head. The front zipper is the water resistant type but backed by a slim flap inside.
This is a great choice waterproof for active outdoor including ultralilight fastpacking.
