Our Verdict
La Sportiva's TX4 GTX are a classic approach shoe made with a solid sole, leather outer and Gore-Tex lining. They feature everything you want in an approach shoe with extended rubber bumpers around the toes, along the sides and up the heels. A strong, effective lacing system allows you to get the most comfortable fit and the large pull loop on the heel makes getting them on much easier too. The Gore-Tex lining helps keep out the wet on the walk in but obviously with a shoe that is this low cut water can (and does) get over the tops easily.
The Mega-Grip Vibram soles are durable, provide excellent grip and have a 'climbing zone' at the front to help with scrambles and more technical terrain. The stiffness is as you would expect and if you are looking for something comfortable and relaxed then look elsewhere. The perform brilliantly on tough terrain and have been designed to handle all the bumps, scrapes and scratches you get from use on and around the rock face.
