Our Verdict
Expedition kitbags need to be tough - so tough, heavy fabric is the order of the day - having said that Montane have managed to produce kitbags that are quite light considering the durability of the fabric used and the padded top/back panel they added for extra comfort and protection. The weight of your kit bag can be critical if you are joining a portered expedition where you don't want to lose valuable weight allowance with a heavy kitbag.
The kitbags are fairly feature rich with removable straps, varied grab handles, internal pockets and internal compression straps. Montane make the Transition Kitbags in a 40L, 60L and 95L version so whether your planning a long-ish weekend trip or a 2 week expedition there's a bag to carry it all.
