Our Verdict
Patagonia's Thermal Airshed Insulated Jacket uses a lightweight fabric and top quality synthetic PlumaFill insulation zoned across the chest and arms to create a jacket that provides a good amount of warmth in a highly breathable lightweight and very packable package. The lack of insulation across the back increases breathability dramatically making it ideal for use as an outer in mild conditions and as a layer in cooler temperatures.
As always with Patagonia gear there's a very high quality finish to this garment. To minimise the weight, along with the use of zoned insulation, there's a pretty basic feature set with two internal pockets - one zipped the other a drop pocket - simple elasticated hem and cuffs. The focus on low weight and high breathability make this jacket perfect for more intense activities in the mountains and so far it has performed brilliantly.
