Scarpa's Rush Trek Mid boots are not the lightest is the box but they are a comfortable and durable boot with excellent ankle support and a stiff, grippy sole unit, ideal for late Autumn, early Spring and some low level Winter day hikes.

RUSH TRK GTX is the new benchmark for all day long and short mountain hike. It is a shoe made in the name of comfort with technologies able to help reduce foot fatigue during the hiking. It represents a fair mix of soft comfort, solid stability and lightweight.
Our Verdict
Scarpa's Rush Trek GTX are a bit on the heavy side compared to our lightest footwear however they are a more substantial product than the lighter weight options. Firstly they are a true mid boot with excellent ankle padding and support, the uppers are mainly suede but they also have plastic protection on high wear areas along the sides of the heel area, the front too has a thick rubber toe cap which will protect against damaging scuffs and scratches.
The sole unit is stiffer than most too, and according to Scarpa is made from a new compound that offers both high grip and durability, two factors that are normally mutually exclusive. Not the boot we'd choose for summer hiking but a good option for late Autumn, early Spring or low level winter hikes. Can't wait to get a pair tested.

- Upper: the upper is in 1.7-1.9 mm suede leather with characteristics of waterproofing, breathability, scratch-resistant surface and durability. It integrates a good higher protection in the ankle area for better support, protection and comfort thanks to an Autofit 3D collar in padded fabric able to stabilize the entire foot without pressure points and wrap the ankle following its movement.
- Lining: GORE-TEX Extended Comfort membrane. Laminate is made by an highly abrasion resistant and quick drying textile lining material while the highly breathable membrane holds a remarkable ability to disperse heat. In this way, the feet are protected from water, while the sweat that is created inside the shoe can go quickly out.
- Sole: the new Presa® sole is made of SUPERGUM compound with an high grip and durability, pronounced heel and hiking-oriented caps, which promote braking on descents and grip on climbs. In addition, the IKS (Interactive Kinetic System) technology, characterized by 7 shock-absorbing areas (domes), progressively and specifically support the weight of our body during our activity in the mountains.
