Inov8's Race Elite Glove do exactly what you need them to. They provide a decent amount of warmth, enough protection from the elements and pack small. They are perfect for running in colder conditions as they can easily be stowed in a pocket until needed or once you've worked up a sweat on the trails.
There is enough silicone grip across the fingers and palms for holding onto phones etc securely and they have touch screen compatible thumb and index finger tips. The elasticated cuff makes pulling them on and off easy whilst it also keeps them in place. There is a pleasing amount of soft towel effect on the thumbs for wiping your nose on the chilly outings too.
