Our Verdict
The MPOWERD Luci EMRG 3 in 1 Inflatable Solar Light has been on test for over six months now and is still going strong. It has been on a range of hiking and running trips across the UK in all conditions through summer into this winter. Overall, it is a simple, understated but excellent piece of kit that I never go on trips without now.
The super lightweight nature of this means it's a perfect lantern for camp and it is robust so you don't need to worry about it getting shoved into your pack or damaged in use. The full charge takes 7-8 hours but in reality a couple of hours in daylight will provide a decent amount of light. The solar panel is on the bottom of the light and it has a small strap which is the right size for sliding a strap through so you can hang it on the outside of your pack to charge up as you go and since it's fully waterproof, the weather is not an issue.
The light has 5 settings with low and high white light being the most useful generally. It is handy to know the other functions (flashing white, solid red and flashing SOS red) are there for emergencies. There is a single button on the bottom of the light to control it. It is easy to inflate and deflate with the simple valve making it quick and easy to use at any point. The frost effect sides mean that the light is diffused really well while the top is clear so you can pick it up and aim it like a torch. The diffused light is so much better in tents or bothy trips where you just need some light on an evening while you can tip it up to aim the light for activities like reading.
