Expanding on the all-time best-selling Helium Collection, the new Helium Wind Convertible Liners make protection reliable and convenient even on the go. A breathable, wicking liner with touchscreen compatibility adds lightweight warmth, and a pullover mitt blocks the wind with durable Diamond Fuse technology. When not in use, the mitt can be stowed in a minimalist pocket on back of hand. A snot wipe, palm grip, and safety reflectivity are just some of the extra features we threw in to sweeten the deal.
Our Verdict
Outdoor Research's Helium Wind Convertible Liners offer a great combo of glove/mitt for changeable conditions. Weighing just 42g they are impressively lightweight which makes them ideal for fastpacking, trail running and a range of other activities where lighter is better. When worn as just a glove, the lightweight fabric allows is super stretchy for unrestricted movement and high levels of breathability.
The mitt cannot be worn by itself but can be pulled out from the back of the gloves when extra protection is needed and stuffed back in when not being used. This does leave a little bulge onback of your hand when it's stuffed which is noticeable but doesn't get in the way. The mitt is gives you a highly weather resistant outer so you can keep your hands out of the cold winds which can make a huge difference when you are out in the hills and mountains.
