Our Verdict
A full wind and waterproof jacket, designed for when you’re moving fast in the hills. Made with GORE-TEX Active 2.0 30 denier fabric throughout, this jacket offers serious protection, with a much higher level of breathability, at an incredibly low weight.
The Rollaway, mountain hood, is an excellent fit and can snuggly fit underneath a helmet if required, and has a nice sturdy peak to keep the rain out of your eyes.
Quite a slim or active fit, I used a thin base layer and thin fleece underneath and found it to be a very good fit, however, I wouldn’t feel this would be a good match with a “puffy” as it could be a little too constrictive, however, I feel this jacket is best used as more of a 3 season shell and isn’t designed to accommodate multiple thick layers.
The 2 side pockets are of substantial size, and can easily accommodate a map, they are mesh-backed, which improves breathability and allowed moisture to escape. Also improving breathability but also seriously helping you regulate your heat are some “pit zips”, which only have one zip, but are easy to reach and open one-handed. Velcro straps on the wrists and a split drawcord on the hem can also be used to tailor the fit, allowing for additional air flow if you wish, but also allowing you to “batten down the hatches” in seriously bad weather.
