For a lightweight, stretchy and breathable set of shorts, the Altvia Trail work well for a range of activities. These shorts use a high content of recycled material, they are bluesign approved and Fair Trade Certified sewn, and that is a great combination.

Our Verdict
Patagonia's Altvia Trail Shorts are designed to be used for a range of outdoor activities. They use a blend of recycled polyester/spandex dobby to provide a nice amount of four-way stretch. This stretch is combined with the gusset inseam to give excellent freedom of movement which suits everything from running to climbing. The 10" length provides a decent amount of coverage without getting in the way.
The soft, stretchy feel of the material makes these shorts really comfortable even when worn for prolonged periods in differing conditions. They are versatile but the lightweight nature means that durability may be an issue if you regularly use them for climbing, hiking and even sitting around at camp in areas with particularly rough surfaces.
